The Friends of St. Catherine's Park (FSCP) is a volunteer neighborhood organization dedicated to the maintenance, security and beautification of St. Catherine's Park, located on 1st Avenue between 67th and 68th Streets, which was completely renovated in 1999. Recent FSCP improvements include the installation of an in-ground automated sprinkler system, and the development and planting of a master landscaping plan, featuring butterfly-friendly plants around the entire park perimeter. In 2005 the ball field was resurfaced and patterned for a variety of activities.

P.S. 183 educates more than 500 children in Kindergarten through Grade 5. The PTA funds many school programs, including the library, guidance program, science, music, art, physical education, computer room, and after school program. It holds fund-raisers, charity drives, educational workshops, and special events for its diverse, international parent community. A principle means of support is an Antiques Flea and Farmers' Market. The market is open every Saturday from 9 am - 5:30 pm. Enter from 66th or 67th Streets between First and York Avenues.
